Make a Difference Day
![]() |
This day-long celebration works to bring students and their urban community together to examine how they can all have a positive impact on the world around them. With presenters from the community, such as physicians, dentists, firemen, and environmental advocates, students spent the day attending sessions to learn about how the work of so many people is essential to a thriving community. The challenge is to “Dare to Care” and the program is organized to highlight the quality of life attractions and civic betterment programs that will help students see how they might fit into this equation. Each breakout session promotes new relationships for the students and real-world application of their new knowledge and experience. This partnership approach gives families and community members a greater opportunity to participate in the school. Make a Difference Day effectively raises awareness in the students, teachers, and volunteers to know that their actions and attitude can truly build a better tomorrow.
