Cranford High School
Cranford, New Jersey, USA
Senior Service Project |
This student-initiated program offers seniors an opportunity to conclude their Cranford High School educational experience and requirements by providing community service to the local community. Through English classes and an assembly program, students are introduced to an application process, for which students design an individualized service project for the last month of their senior year. This valuable opportunity not only allows students to share their talents with others, it fosters a positive relationship between community organizations and its youth. Students often explore possible career paths as they volunteer their time in local police and rescue departments, accounting and law offices, hospitals and other medical facilities, and the parks commission for civil engineering experiences. To conclude the program, students detail their experience in a portfolio, receive a visit from the program coordinator, and hear feedback from their respective mentor. The popularity of the program grows each year.
