PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

"Responsive Classroom IS a practical approach TO teaching AND learning that creates safe, challenging, AND joyful elementary schools. Developed by classroom teachers AT the Northeast Foundation FOR Children, the Responsive Classroom approach IS based ON developmentally appropriate practice AND consists OF practical strategies FOR bringing together social AND academic learning throughout the school DAY. Since 1981, thousands OF classroom teachers AND hundreds OF schools AND school districts have used the Responsive Classroom approach TO CREATE learning environments WHERE children thrive academically, socially, AND emotionally. Children IN urban, rural AND suburban settings WHERE Responsive Classroom practices ARE used show decreases IN problem behaviors AND increases IN social skills, investment, responsibility, AND learning. The Responsive Classroom approach recognizes AND develops the power OF positive community membership TO motivate meaningful achievement.
