SANKOFA: There is a tremendous need to teach youth the special skills needed to reduce their risk for engaging in violence-related behaviors and violence victimization. SANKOFA, an evidence-based curriculum for adolescents, parents, and teachers, meets core curriculum and character education standards. The program promotes a message of youth responsibility and instills the "Seven Cs": Consciousness, Connectedness, Conduct, Commitment, Competence, Creativity, and Courage. BRIDGES is designed to enhance participants' understanding of adolescent suicide, assessment skills, the pros and cons of varied screening tools, and strategies for intervening with suicidal adolescents and their families and peers. Participants will also enhance their capacity to advocate for and develop postvention policies and procedures.
