DESCRIPTION OF PUBLICATIONS:

Responsive ClassroomŪ is a practical approach to teaching and learning that creates safe, challenging, and joyful elementary schools. Developed by classroom teachers at the Northeast Foundation for Children, the Responsive Classroom approach is based on developmentally appropriate practice and consists of practical strategies for bringing together social and academic learning throughout the school day. Northeast Foundation for Children publishes high quality, affordable books and resources for teachers, by teachers. The resources articulate core Responsive Classroom practices as well as practices that complement the Responsive Classroom approach. The collection is developed with one thing in mind: to help educators create classrooms and schools where children thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. The core titles for learning about the approach are the Strategies for Teachers series, which focus on specific practices in the Responsive Classroom approach. In addition, Northeast Foundation for Children publishes resources that focus on child development, classroom climate, and community. All books, videos, and audio tapes are designed to be immediately useful for school practitioners. Many schools have used the resources for staff study groups and grade-level meetings. You can visit the Responsive Classroom bookstore at www.responsiveclassroom.org/bookstore/.
